Mini Review

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen ★★★★☆

I’ve had a very mixed experience with Jane Austen. I loved Pride and Prejudice but didn’t like Persuasion. I’ve heard a lot of people say Mansfield Park is one of the weaker ones, but for me it’s ended up being my new favourite!

One By One by Christ Carter (Robert Hunter #5) ★★★★☆

I was sucked in and kept on edge throughout this, which is the sign of a great thriller. I should warn you though it’s incredibly gory. I’m usually ok with it but this was close to the edge for me. Avoid if you’re squeamish.

2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke (Space Odyssey #1) ★★★★☆

I love reading classic science fiction. I find it fascinating to read about technology and the future from a time so historical to now. I wasn’t so sure on the ending, but overall this was an enjoyable one. And I’ll try and pick up the rest of the series at some point.

  1. I think Austen’s books are rather polarising. Like you, I love Pride and Prejudice. I also know people who find it incredibly tedious and insufferable, which is fine, we all have our own personal tastes. Mine don’t stretch to liking Mansfield Park that much but then it has been a while since I read it so I should try it again and see how far I get through it the second time round.
