Wrap Up: January 2017

I had a great start to the new year, reading 7 books in January.

1. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children #1) ★★★★☆

Full Review

2. Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman ★★★☆☆

As always with short story collections, this was a mixed bag. But this really shows off Neil Gaiman’s range. It is really mix of different genres and styles, although all have a bit of a twist on the expected.

The real standout of this collection was ‘Snow, Glass, Apples’, a retelling of Snow White which will ensure you never look at the fairy tale in the same way again!

3. Burned and Broken by Mark Hardie ★★★☆☆

Full Review

4. Doctor Who: Agent Provocateur by Gary Russell ★★☆☆

This story seemed a bit messy and all over the place. There were aspects I really liked, but we seemed to jump all over the place between each comic. To be honest, I’m not really sure what happened!

5. A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab (Shades of Magic #2) ★★★★☆

Full Review

6. The Master Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg (The Paper Magician #3) ★★★☆☆

Full trilogy review

7. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling (Hogwarts Library) ★★★☆☆

This is a fun little edition to the series. I read it when it initially came out, and enjoyed re-visiting. It does particularly add anything but fun for a fan to read.
