The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffeneggar ★★★★☆

Published: 2003

Format: Audiobook

Pages: 500

Clare first met Henry when she was 6 and he was 36. The married when she was 23 and he was 31. Henry has Chrono-Displacement Disorder which means he sometimes finds himself at a different point of time. The Time Traveler’s Wife follows Claire and Henry’s story and how time travel effects their lives and relationship.

I went into this expecting a generally lighthearted romance story. Boy was I wrong!

This is a complex, emotional story. We see the characters go through every emotion you can imagine. Live their lives out of sync with each other and seemingly the rest of the world. These aren’t idealistic characters often typical of a love story. They make questionably choice, and are often morally grey (at times flat out morally wrong).

In all this was a fantastic read. The depth of the novel is wonderful and I loved Audrey Niffenegger’s writing style. I listened to the audio book version which is read by two different narrators helping to bring the two diferent points of view to life.
