Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (The Illuminae Files #2) ★★★★☆

Published: 2016

Format: Paperback

Pages: 672

Genre: Science Fiction, Young Adult

This is spoiler free for the whole series.

Gemina is set following the events of Illuminae with a whole host of new characters. Living on the space station Heimdall, Hanna Donnelly is the pampered daughter of the captain while Nik is a member of a crime family.

The contrasting teens come together when the station is plunged into danger. Trying to save themselves (and as many other people as they can) their lives are turned upside down.

After falling in love with Illuminae earlier this year (see my full review here), I couldn’t wait to pick this up. And I wasn’t dissapointed. Gemina is a fun and thrilling ride of a story. Again, Kaufman and Kristoff managed to suck me in and really care about the characters despite the unusual format.

Like book 1, this was full of twists and turns to keep you on your toes all the way through.

There was one twist which seemed to be a bit out of place, the reason I dropped a star from the rating. But I’m still a massive fan of this series, and I really can’t wait for book 3!
