A Series of Unfortunate Events follows the Baudelaire orphans and all the terrible things that happen to them. In the case of the first book, The Bad Beginning, they find our that their parents have died in a house fire and they have to go an live with the distant relative Count Olaf who makes their lives miserable and his sole aim is to get his hands on the fortune left to them by their parents.

I first read (and loved) this series as a kid, and the film adaptation (combining the first 3 books) is also brilliant. With Netflix adapting the series, I decided it was a good time to revist them. This is a brilliant series for kids, although everything that happens to the children is terrible they are really enjoyable books and I love the way they are written with Lemony Snicket telling the story. And I definitely think they can be enjoyed by older people. They are quick, fun reads and I would highly recommend checking them out before the watching the show.
